Stingrays, slides and spicy soup.

The Starbucks fairy had been by the time I woke this morning, the kids receiving frappes while I ended up with a bucket o' flat white. Unsurprisingly invigorated, we set off for Sentosa Island - an island off an island, largely devoted to resorts and attractions. We crossed Sentosa Boardwalk in virtually no time at all, and made our way to the South East Asian (SEA - see what they did there?) Aquarium.

Barely visible in this photo are a series of
ludicrously high cable cars. Thanks, but no thanks,

The local workers had thoughtfully shut off a series of
conveniently-located travelators along
the Boardwalk.

A few short metres away from
air-conditiony goodness.

The place was packed with foot-tall kiddies in school uniform, some looking not-long from the maternity ward to be honest. The Martin children viewed the Aquarium as an obstacle to their making it to Adventure Cove Waterpark later in the day (making for pleasant going for all concerned). The stingrays were a hit, sliding up the side of the viewing panels with an almost-smile on their...uh faces/underbellies.

From the set of Avatar 2 - the Avatars go sight-seeing.

A sploosh (technical term) of cute jellyfish.

Josh patting a star fish.
The stone fish exhibit not quite as big a hit.

They finally made it.
We bid SEA Aquarium farewell, and continued on for the dozen or so additional steps to Adventure Cove Waterpark. The place was awesome - 'Adventure River" wound its way throughout the entire place, a floaty transit system if you will (walking is for chumps after all), disembarkation points scattered throughout. Ride queues were minimal, and the place was Singaporean clean. I partook in a bunch of rides, if only to impress on the children the perils of momentum (I may have careened off a surprised pool attendant in the exit pool at one point). The kids loved Buccaneer's Bay, taking the opportunity of squirting each other with the fixed spray-guns provided. Not wanting to be left out, the attendants thought it a marvellous idea to squirt Lily in the face as she was attacking her brothers.

Several hours later...
We thought it prudent to take on board sustenance prior to re-joining the MRT back to our apartment. Lily had been keen to try a drink called the Milo Dinosaur (they are mad for Milo in Singapore). So at a place called Toast Box (they sell toast with peanut butter for the price of a small hatch-back), we picked up 5 Milo Dinosaurs. From what I can work out, it consists of a large amount of Milo and sugar, a glass filled with ice, some milk, and then more Milo spooned on top. Reasonably palatable I must say.

Milo Dinosaurs - note Hamish entering another plane
of existence over on the right.
We've received numerous suggestions to try out Lau Pa Sat, an eatery in Singapore of some renown. The seasoned transit-users that we are, made very quick time from our place to Telok Ayer station, where Jen then proceeded to guide us up and around a couple of city blocks, rather than the 50 metres directly to the eatery (I'm going with a deliberate mini-tour).

MRT is A-OK.
Lau Pa Sat is an immense eatery, resplendent with Bunnings-style fans, dodgy tables and an endless supply and variety of delicious, insanely cheap food. I opted for an eye-watering laksa, along with some pork buns and sugar cane juice. We will have to go back. So. Many. Options.
