Six hours and counting.

The Martin kiddies are all tucked away in their beds, and Jen is working her way through a small codex of lists. Somewhat shockingly, I've had to include reading glasses as part of my essentials on this trip (clearly I'm but a doddery step away from Bingo Night at the RSL), but I'd wager confusing menu items at a local Hawker Centre in downtown Singapore could result in a shock of its own.

In a little under 6 hours (4am *shudder*) we'll set off for Sydney Airport prior to our 9.5 hour jaunt just across the equator. Historically, determining the volume of small toiletry containers has never struck me as a must-do, but the (admittedly paranoid) thought of Customs officials dragging me off to some back room to the sound of latex gloves snapping - impresses on me the merits of not going over 100mL.

Not everyone was thrilled
 with our imminent departure.
Cricket - our enthusiastic but oblivious Pug is sleeping peacefully away in her bed, while Poppy (pictured) is definitely suspicious of our packing - and is managing a combination of sullen attentiveness. With an alarming display of electrical gear (laptop, camera, phone and chargers for pretty much anything that can be plugged into a wall) crammed into my carry-on bag, I am looking to negotiating the scanning machine tomorrow.
